Capillary Fitting - Concentric reducers MF

This capillary fitting is used to join a smaller copper pipe to a bigger fitting. It is designed so that one end will fit inside the larger fitting, and the other end so that copper pipe will fit inside of it.

Capillary, in this context, is used to describe small (15-25mm) fittings that use silver brazing alloy to weld them. NB "High pressure copper" fittings also use silver brazing alloy to weld, and cover ranges 15mm - 150mm.

Capillary fittings are manufactured from copper and made to Australian Standards 3688. The standards are designed to provide a material that is safe for drinking and gas applications as well as meeting a mechanical strength and chemical resistance. They complement copper manufactured to AS 1423. The copper is available is 4 classes, debandent on pressure needs. The common class that is used plumbing is type B. Fittings used in conjuction with Type-B copper attain a working pressure of 3500-5290, depending on size. See Copper pressures chartAll this ensures the copper made to Australian Standards is safe, strong and long lasting. DZR (DR) brass is used throughout Australia. It stands for "dezincified brass" and has been specified to meet Australia's harsh environment. Much of the brass is recycled and each batch is tested to ensure it complies with Australian Standards.

Copper is safe, long lasting, does not burn, is recycleable, is vermin proof and withstands temperatures to 200Â °C.

Teflon and a paste (eg Mirror paste) is recommended to complete consistant watertight seals.

All screwed brassware is covered by a WaterMark approval for all sizes and comply to AS3688.

Maximum working temperature 80Â °C and maximum pressure rating 2000kPa.
